Maurya Zepeda, B.A.
Early Intervention Specialist
Intake Coordinator (5-Cities, Nipomo, Santa Maria)

Maurya graduated from California State University, Northridge with a B.A. in Child Development.  During her studies, she took Child Life Courses at the University of La Verne which focused on work with children in hospital settings.  Maurya also completed a 600 hour Child Life internship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in the surgery department and the rehabilitation department.  She has worked with children for over two decades across a broad age range.  While in college, she worked in an after-school program designed for elementary school aged students.  Following her collegiate work, she served for many years as a preschool teacher at the Warner Brothers Studios Children’s Center in Burbank, CA.  In 2005, Maurya heard about a “little thing” called early intervention and thought it would be right up her alley.  She worked for Sojourn Services as a program manager and early intervention specialist and has been doing early intervention work ever since.  Maurya has been a team member of GSTAR since 2010 and enjoys working, consulting, and learning from the many talented therapists on the team.  She is interested in all aspects of child development and providing strategic support to children and their families to help them achieve their very best outcomes.  She enjoys working with infants and toddlers, because every day for them is a mystery and an adventure, and she finds the things they do and say very entertaining.  Maurya is grateful to have the opportunity to work with so many wonderful children and their families in this community. During her personal time, she enjoys crocheting, reading, and hiking.
